Digital Experimentation

These are some of the digital photographs from my contact sheet that I chose to experiment with. I firstly change them all into black and white and experimented a lot with different exposure, brightness, contrast and clarity settings in the Canon 550D's editing software (camera raw 6.7). I also tried experimenting with vignetting in photoshop.

For this first one I tried to experiment in photoshop in the style of  Arthur Ransome's work. I used the Blur tool and gaussian blur to blur the photo just like in Ransome's work. I also used the brush tools to add vignetting and to also black out the alley way to add more darkness and the feeling to show that my friend in the photo is alone just like in Ransome's 'Subway' photos.

These four I experimented with in the style of Francois Marclay to black out the faces. In the first two photographs that I took in camden I made my friend wear a tight black mask to see if that was a better effect than too do it on photoshop, However in the second two I took in croydon I feel that using photoshop to black out faces and hands with the brush tool is much better as It hides the persons Identity much more because of how you can't see their hands and the structure of their face. I really like the last two and feel that they could be potential final prints.
